Grandma had a cracking sense of humour. Growing up, I was so proud of her sense of humour and her coolness (none of the other Grandmas watched French & Saunders and drank cans of Skoll). She was completely down to earth. We shared many funny moments but one that stands out is when we were chatting in the kitchen about one of my friends (a close friend my grandma had known for years)- for some reason, we were talking about my friend’s mum & she said: “I’ve never met her- what does she look like?” I paused for a moment and then responded in all earnest: “She actually looks a bit like Brian May”. Of all the responses, she clearly wasn’t anticipating this one- she doubled-over in laughter, tears rolling down her face, her legs crossed over as she desperately tried not to wee herself laughing by the sink. It was a hysterical moment and one that is typical of our zany madcap humour. Grandma taught me to be gracious and to laugh, never to take life too seriously!
Love you loads Grandma and thinking of you every day! Laura :)
